I don’t love Obama. I don’t know the man.

But this comment on this performance (and BD), is somehow indicative of why we voted for the man. No president is like you and me, but this seems to indicate that he gets it. The other guys (even Clinton) never intuitively understood the appeal of the elusive moment…

Here’s what I love about Dylan: He was exactly as you’d expect he would be. He wouldn’t come to the rehearsal; usually, all these guys are practicing before the set in the evening. He didn’t want to take a picture with me; usually all the talent is dying to take a picture with me and Michelle before the show, but he didn’t show up to that. He came in and played “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” A beautiful rendition. The guy is so steeped in this stuff that he can just come up with some new arrangement, and the song sounds completely different. Finishes the song, steps off the stage — I’m sitting right in the front row — comes up, shakes my hand, sort of tips his head, gives me just a little grin, and then leaves. And that was it — then he left. That was our only interaction with him. And I thought: That’s how you want Bob Dylan, right? You don’t want him to be all cheesin’ and grinnin’ with you. Now that it’s cold, I think about meat and packing on a layer (and a few pints) while watching meat cook.

So, to that end, I have a recommendation. The next time you are getting ready to cook

a steak, do yourself a favor.

Go into the market, tell the butcher you want a big ribeye (2-3 inches wide).

Take it home. Maybe talk to it, I don’t know.

2 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon salt

1 tablespoon black pepper

1 tablespoon chili flakes

Put it in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and make a thick paste.

Rub it on the steak and let the steak get to room temp. This means let it sit on the counter for an hour.

Put it on medium high heat in a hot cast iron pan. Get a thermometer ready.

After like 4 mins a side (browned not black), put that therm in the side (right in the middle).

Put in a pre-heated (400 degree) oven until the therm reads 135 or so. This will take longer than you think, but don’t sleep on it because the temp comes up fast late in the game.

Pull it out and put under a piece of alum foil for 5 mins or so (resting).

Cut cowboy strips against the grain. 1/2 inch thick or so.

Call me and thank me for the great sex you just had.

But Travis Barker is bad ass. Why? Well, there are a few things to talk about.

First, he plays the drums and you don’t. You’re not a drummer.

Second? He went down in a plane crash and got burned to a fucking crisp.

He lived. Never bitched. Travis is a an adult.
